It will soon be here so be patient....
Days are getting a little shorter, nights are getting a little cooler, water temperature dropping bit by bit, bring on the transition period of September and early October, lets get done with the excellent fall bite after that and await the ABSOLUTE BEST ACTION OF THE YEAR. Yes that is it, Alberta Clippers, Hats, Gloves, Layers after Layers of clothing, frozen rod eyes, frozen line on the reels, snot running down and freezing in the mustache, not one single jet ski or skier on the water, no big party boats jamming their favorite tunes causing wake after wake just because. It is just me, my 10' FNF rod, 1/16 oz jug, bobber on my favorite point or bluff over that deep water grass bed at Dale Hollow lookin for the BIGGINS!!!!! I know there are many here that will disagree and spring time at KY Lake is a close 2nd, FNF fishing at Dale Hollow Lake is my FAVORITE time of the year.
Now if I could just hit this Powerball thing and move to Celina to FNF every day from the last week of November to the end of February, then move to KY Lake for March to August, Take September off to spend time with the wife and kids, move to Jamestown for the topwater Striper action at Cumberland, then back to Celina for FNF in November, I would have my whole year planned out.

That mustache snot makes a great fish attractor!

Elnut, I had to print that one.

You hit the nail on the head with that one Elwood. Usually I struggle in the fall but hopefully with some of the lessons I took last year from some friends ( the hard way I might add) I will have better luck this year. Cool weather, deer hunting, and busting them big ol smallmouth. Maybe add walleye and stripers to the resume' this time around. It's something that's definitely worth waiting for.

It's takes off a little earlier in the creeks. They'll cool to a good level at the end of Oct, 1st of Novemeber.
I netted a 5'4 LM for Mr Splitshot last yr in the 1st week of November. You DO NOT HAVE do go to Dale or Cumberland to F-n-F fish.
We are going to hit some areas of Herrington hard this year to see if we can esatblish some kind of pattern there.

Billy is right in that Dale or Cumberland is not the only place to go for FNF. I go to Dale for I have been told by several local VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE people that scuba the lake regularly they have seen a couple of Smallmouth that was bigger than 12. That is what I am looking for, the world record smallie and I think it is swimming in Dale and just waiting on me to cast my FNF.
