Nolin 9/16
Fishid Nolin Saturday from 7 am - 3:33 pm. Caught many fish but all were small. All fish were caught on main lake and secondary points on Carolina rigged craws and creature baits, bluff walls with cover, and standing timber on small jigs. Most bites came from deep water, near ledges. I would have killed for a solid keeper, but I just couldn't find em. Hopefully, the fall bite will be in full swing soon.

RE: Nolin 9/16
DEW and I were thinking of going today, and it didn't work out. Sounds like a shame. I'd have loved to just get my line stretched even by little ones. I'd have just switched to my spinning reel and rod.
Hey, when do they begin the draw down, and what were the water conditions.... temps etc.....
Also gotta believe with the strong cold front coming this evening... they are forcasting lows in the mid 40's and a couple of days where it won't even reach 70, we could have an early fall bite, as well as an early turn over in lakes like Nolin.
Thanks for the report. Maybe someday we'll run into each other out on the water.
Tight lines and God Bless

RE: Nolin 9/16
Water was clear to at least 2 ft. although there was a pretty good mud line forming by mid afternoon due to all the boat traffic. There were a ton of bass boats out, and they weren't doing all that great judging by the fact they were buzzing back and fourth a LOT! water temps ranged from the low 80,s down. The lake seemed to be at or just below summer pool still, but that should be changing soon, I believe the corps was scheduled to drop the lake 2 ft. between 9/15 and 10/15. I have never been very good at fishing the draw down periods but hope to work on that a lot this year.
tight lines

we were at nolin today. fished until about noon. absolutely nothing but dinks. they were definitely staging. we fished rock creek and dog creek and the creek channel ledges were stacked up but nothing but short fish were eating it seemed. strange day. we found some channel bends with a ledge on them and the fish finders just went black with fish but couldnt get a good bite. they were biting everything too.

RE: Nolin 9/16
drives ya nuts doesn't it. We fished the ledges and walls around Ponderosa, The mouth and two thirds of the way into Long fall, Canoloway all the way to the back and nothing but dinks. I have no idea what the big ones are doing, I'm sure someone knows and they aint talking. Anyway, I plan on just fishing as much as I can until winter and then maybe trying out the float and fly for the first time.
