Anyone know if they have seen the stripers in the jumps yet. I would love to see this when it happens. If anyone keeps up with this I would be interested in making a trip.
Thanks guys

From what I am hearing just very few jumps have been seen. I am going down the week oct 23-27 and fish a couple of days if nothing comes up. Been told that I should start seeing a lot more activity by then. Will be there mainly to fish for smalljaws but I will have the striper plugs on just in case. Elnutsmalljaws might be able to tell us a little bit more if he tunes in. I believe he fishes for them in jumps this time of year if I have read his posts correctly.
That's correct about Elnut...he'll be down there sometime around the same time as you...I'll be there the 29th, 30th, 31st and 1st...I'm hoping some of the kind folkss from this site will post a report as the time draws nearer.
I am going next week to Dale on Oct 20-22. I could easily go a day early or so if the timing is right.
Ar you fishing Cumberland for Smallies? Where do you think they will be on the lake then?
I will going to Cumberland this weekend after this cold front comes through. You have to go when you can go. It may be a difficult weekend after the coolest weather this fall. I plan to fish the main lake points of Otter and Beaver. If anyone has any information as what to use after a major cold front, I would appreciate the input. I plan to drag some worms and shinners as well as jig and crank. Thanks!
Going the 23rd thru the 29th for me this year. Usually go a little earlier in October but thought the water temp may not get down there so moved it out a week, sounds like a good idea so far. Also plan on some night time action as well. I had the ABSOLUTE BEST night of my life 2 years ago at night, the end of October for Smallies and Stripers on a Black Super Zara Spook on main lake points. Also read that the Stripers will heard shad to the surface onto flats adjoining points or river channels and bust them at night as well. Will try this out as well with Slivers and Redfins. Pretty much with night action, morning topwater action, pulling boards during the afternoon, early evening topwater bite, filleting a few for the freezer - WHEN IS A MAN GOING TO SLEEP!!!!!! (WHO NEEDS SLEEP IF THE FISH ARE CO-OPERATING) Might as well look for some STRIPPERS if the STRIPERS are not biting maybe the STRIPPERS are.
Hey Elwood
I will be looking for you down there. Will be fishing with a long time friend of mine and would love to get him on a few fish. Probably do a lot of cranking on main lake points looking for some big smallie action. Save a few stripers or strippers which ever you find first. Don't really know if it matters I don't believe I could handle either one. LMAO Where is the best place to go. Looking to maybe put in around otter I believe unless someone can recommend better. Never fished that far mainly around faubush so going to try something new hoping for a little better luck. Hope to see you there.
We fished this morning and saw a good sized rise about 7:00 AM on the main lake in front of Lilly Creek. Actually we heard it first because of the dense fog. Ended up with three fish on shiners 40 ft deep. Never managed to get a lure in the surfacing fish.

I really hoping fish will be on the main lake points. Will plan on cranking some deep diving cranks on the deep side of the points unless something changes what they are doing. Cold front coming thru end of the week should drop water temps alot. Should really put fish in full swing by the time I get down there.
I launch at Lily creek and did not get out to the main lake until 8:00 because of the fog. I saw the "jumps" one time on the opposite side of the lake across from the state lodge (Lure Lodge). We caught 2 small stripers about 40-50'. A fisherman I talked with this morning mentioned that the lake was "turning over" and the stripers were deep 60-70' with little top water "jumps" activity.
Have not been down since spring. Last I saw the surface temps were 72 or so. No way that the lake is turning. Typically does that around tgiving. As for when they start, usually the first weekend that I cannot possibly get down there and ending around the time I can get there :+ In past years, around the 3 rd week of Oct through early Nov, though its not always consistant.
