Barren Tailwaters ramp?'s
Is there a ramp and will it handle a 17' deep-V style boat? Is it usable while the lake is being pulled down? How is the fishing, either with or without a boat? Lots of ?'s but 2+ hrs is a long drive to make a wasted trip. I am interested in anything that swims. Thanks in advance.

RE: Barren Tailwaters ramp?'s
There is a ramp on down in the campground. I've seen it used by a guy in an 18 ft Stratos Bass boat but I don't remember how much water they were pulling. My guess is there'd be plenty of fast moving water if they're pulling it hard. Anyway, the guy in the Stratos jumped it up on plane and ran down stream, but he clearly knew the river. I'd be real careful if I'd never been in there it's pretty skinny, and as you prolly know things can get dangerous in a hurry in that fast water.
The people I see fishing the tailrace are always walking the rip rap along the fast water channel. Down further the rip rap ends, the water makes a bend to the left and becomes the Barren River again. Just below the bend is where the ramp is. Starting at the dam you can fish from the bank all down either side of the fast water channel and all along the left side of the river down past the ramp. Don't know how the fishing is, I've only seen people doing it from a distance.
To check water conditions and see if anyone's doing any good down there, try calling Ranger Bob's at 270-622-6160. Ask for Gary Morrison and tell him you're looking to drive a fur piece but want to know what's happening first.
Good luck, hope this helps.
