Below Barkley dam?
Does anyone out there fish the Cumberland below Barkley Dam? I was down at the bait shop at Grand Rivers last year around this time and the talk was they were whacking the stripers. I have'nt fished there since I was a kid fishing off the rocks. I think I might try them this weekend. If anyone out there can enlighten me on this fishery I'd be much obliged.

RE: Below Barkley dam?
The best luck I have had has been the riprap bank below the lock to the bridge. an hour or so before dark til dark with some type of white or shad crankbait seems to work best. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not. Can be good for largemouth and smallies as well as stripers.

RE: Below Barkley dam?
I have fished the tailwaters of KY Lake and Barkley for bass and both hold good fish. I haven't purposely fished for stripers but have caught some real good ones below these dams.I would fish crankbaits in and around eddys along the bank caused by rocks and so forth. You can also try the soft plastic shad bodies or grubs on lead heads.
Good luck and let us know how you do.
