Lake Cumberland lots
I keep getting advertisments sent to me about lake lots for sale in the Lilly Creek area, called Captain's point. Anyone know about these lots, been down there to investigate the properties? My wife and I are finaly ready to buy something on the lake and would love to hear about the options. Driving from Louisville, so north part of the lake would be easiest. Thanks, Steve

RE: Lake Cumberland lots
From the sound of things I think I received the same thing in the mail that you did...I don't know much about the lots or anything, I'm not considering land at this time. But from what I read in the small brochure I believe you can get into an 1800 square foot log home for $79,000.00 dollars, this price includes the land...which in my opinion doesn't sound like a bad deal. But as I said, I haven't seen the lay of the land or anything else so I can't comment any further.

RE: Lake Cumberland lots
Tim,
1800 sqaure feet log home for with land for $79,000 anywhere is a pretty good deal with today's prices of raw materials, lake property????? I would do some serious checking into this.

RE: Lake Cumberland lots
It's not a bad deal at all. The land is of course on top of a hill and not all lots look over the lake, if those are still available???, price goes way up. When people hear lake front at Cumberland, beware, the only places like those that exist is way up on east end of lake and all those to my knowledge are gone. On top of a mountain overlooking a beautiful lake like Cumberland are very nice, but they are not lake front, you still have to drive to get to the lake unless you are part billy goat.

RE: Lake Cumberland lots
Thanks Mhall for the input.
That's right Elwood...that's what the brochure said 1800 square foot WITH land for 79,000.00...It's probably like Mhall mentioned though, the land itself probably leaves a lot to be desired. Plus there ain't no tellin' how close your neighbor would be, these days they stack people on top of each other in all the new developments.
Elwood are you about ready to leave? Are you heading down on Sunday or ?????

RE: Lake Cumberland lots
If you are looking for a reasonable priced property to buy you may check out Apple Valley Townhouse Resort. These condominiums are located on State Park Road just off 127 about 3.5 miles from Wolf Creek Dam. At this time of year there might be a some for sale.

RE: Lake Cumberland lots
Leaving 2am Monday morning, been ready for weeks now and can't wait. Already losing sleep, no telling how much sleep I will not get over the next few nights. Wife is on call one week every 6 and her week does not end until Monday morning or I would be leaving earlier. If not for that I would leave Friday night and stay 10 days but I guess I will just SUFFER and only fish 7 instead. Thats not to say if the fish are really co-operating and everything is going well at my plant adding a few more days on the back end of the trip is not out of the question.

RE: 79,000...SCAM!!!!
Captain's Point and the 79,000 lots are totally seperate!!! Those 79,000 cabin lots are out past Alligator 1 and 2. Captains Point is out Bernard Ridge about 2 miles from the Pleasent Hill Boat ramp and view Lilly Creek in the back. Very nice lots but rather pricey if you ask me. These lots have restrictions and vary in size and scenery. I think the gentleman who now owns Anchor Inn is the one subdividing this development. I think lots range from 29,000-over 100,000. However it is one of the most beautiful developments on lower Cumberland.
The brochure for the other place(can't remember it's name) is done by a group of investors out of Tennessee with high pressure sales tactics and they ride you around on a golf cart and beg you to buy. I am thinking they charge you a fee to even look at the lots. And those 79,000 cabins are kits that you must have someone assemble and pour your footers/crawl/slab/basement. I hope I am telling you right because my brother got one of these brochures and I live in Russell County and started asking around and was given this info by a few gentlemen in the construction business.
Hope this helps. Please correct me if I am wrong!!!!

RE: 79,000...SCAM!!!!
I got that feeling too. My wife called for info and they started the high presure tactics right away. Told her we had to make an appointment to come view the lots, better make that appointment now as we may not be able to accomodate you/ no we couldn't drive by and take a look. Two day sale only. Maybe it's just me, but as soon as someone starts that B.S. I'm done. No interest whatsoever. Let the Ohio Navy have it.
I'd give my left arm for a lake lot with a dock gradfathered in, but who wouldn't.

Re: Lake Cumberland lots
I received the same flyers in the mail back in the early summer. My wife and I did go down to investigate and found the development of Captain's Point to be very nice. We purchased a total of 3 lots. Due to some unforeseen issues, we're now looking to sell 2 of the lots as a 1 acre package just for our costs. If you're interested, I'd be happy to forward you some photo's of the development and the lots in question.
