What's a sturdy bass boat to get?
Am looking in trading in the ole fish and ski and get into some tornament fishing. What's a good solid boat out there. I'm a big guy and I want a sturdy boat with good leg room and sturdy decks. I think I heard someone say the Bullet's are a little tougher for bigger guys to get to the hot foot but not sure. Any Sugggestions.......

How much are you looking to spend?
Do you want speed, or better in rough water?

I'm 6'3" 240. I bought a Stratos 201 pro. I looked at about 15-20 boats before I bought this one and one big reason was that it was the only one that I could stretch my legs out completely under the console. well made boat in my opinion. I didnt look at a bullet though. I did look at javelin, ranger, sprint, aries, astro and champion. the stratos was the most comfortable for me.

My Skeeter has lots of leg room. What type of boat are you looking for glass or aluminum? What length, year, size motor are you looking for? Will you be fishing big lakes or smaller ones? My best advise is to check out as many boats on the water as you can before you make your decision.

I love my Triton 196, with a 200 Opti-Max, plenty of leg room with the hot foot pedal. Safety ladder built in, large casting deck and 70 lb thrust trolling motor....

Skeeters are probably the most stable boat ive ever been in, you can have 3 guys stand on the gunwales and the boat hardly moves. They also seem to have the most leg room. Call Plapps we sell Skeeters and have a few late model used ones also. Ask for me and I will try to find one that fits your needs.

Skeeters are good boats, but they are very difficult for big guys. The seats sit up so high you are not protected from the wind like you should be if you are a tall guy. I know!!! I've fished them, run one of my friends, and I decided on Triton in 2002. My next boat will be a Ranger if they stay as good as they are now.

Call Richie at Plapp's, those guys are great to work with and they stand behind what they sell. You just don't see that much anymore. I bought a Triton from them and I love it, but if comfort is your number one priority I would check out their Skeeters.
Forget about the Bullet, rough ride and tough to get in and out of.

Man what kind of a bullet have you fished out of ? Now this is based on a 21 footer. Ride excellent ! I also dont know what you mean when you say hard to get out of ?Of course all boats have their good points and bad . If they didn't they would all look alike and ride the same. NO I DON"T OWN A BULLET! My advice is to ask around to see if you can ride in someone elses boat . That will help you decide before you invest THOUSANDS

I have owned a Champion, an Astro, an Alumnaweld and a Glasstream. I have fished from other peoples Ranger, Triton and Cajun. I now own a Skeeter and will not own another brand of boat. The Skeeter is the most stable and smoothest ride. That is my personal preference and I agree you need to try as many brands as you can before you invest thousands in a boat and then have later regrets. I think you will be very satisfied with the Skeeter though.

If your looking for a great boat with plenty of room for a big fella, take my word for it,Triton is the best way to go. The last thing you want is to be bagging into everything all over the boat because there is no room. Feel free to give me a call anytime before 9:00 p.m. at 859-380-1907 or toll free at 866-975-2777. My name is John Tucker and I work up here at Plapp's Pro Outdoors.
