i am also heading down friday morning thru the weekend and will probably try the mouth of beaver and otter first. usually they are deep 35-50 ft this time of the year and starting to head into the creeks.
are the fish still in the jumps or is it too late.
Was down Saturday. Looked like the lake was starting to turn, at least up in the creek. Also plan on being there this weekend. Throwing cranks/jigs at night is my plan. In the creeks.

I was told the stripers start coming up shallower at this time of year thru feb and march, is this true?
Yes. You'll typically find them on the clay banks. Subsurface stuff is usually a better bet. Deep running cranks, sliver, jigs. They can be right on the bank, or they can be right under the boat.

so how did you do?
what time will you cast at night? late, like midnight, or around 7-8 pm.
a couple years ago, i was tearing them up fishing about 70 ft deep but it was the first week of november. i sat right on top of the fish out in the middle of the channel. they were busting top water in the morning and deep in the afternoon. caught fish on suckers and shiners with down rods and 3 oz sinkers.
Got two shorts on cranks. I prefer getting to the lake a little before dark and scouting at least a few banks before I get started. You can sometimes pick up one or two on jigs before dark. Some nights you'll get a good bite just after dark, other nights its later on. Sort of periods of feeding followed by slow times for a while.
