Hunting related - Peabody Land sale update...
We just heard this morning from a friend of ours that works for Peabody that the sale of the old Peabody Wildlife Refuge has been completed. I have not heard the details of exactly how many acres were ultimately sold, but the I hear it was a lot.
I don't hunt, but I do feel the pain that you hunters are feeling in regards to the lost hunting space. To that end, I think my father in law will sell his land that has several lakes and borders this land, will sell for $5,000 per acre if all is bought at once...LOL.. about 250 acres.
I got to fish four of our lakes today. The fish were up shallow, and caught several nice ones. Had one on that pulled really hard like it was big, but it came off, and I never saw it. I'd say the average was just under 2 lbs. I had a couple of dinks that brought the average down, but several in the 3+ range.
Man, I hate to see the warm weather forcasted to end. I'm sure I'll still manage a little fishing over the winter months though.... or I hope so anyway.
Tight lines and God Bless
Danny
RE: Hunters for the Hungry
Jim every year I try to get our group involved in this and we do donate several deer in our area, Crestwood. However at 30 dollars a pop there is only so many a guy can do. I don't mind buying the tag, dragging and hauling the deer, but after one donation that fee kinda stops me in my tracks. We donated three this year, I'd like to do more.

This donation means that you should NOT have to pay for the processing. Call Mike At Mike's Taxidermy for more information but I am pretty sure this request is for more deer that will be processed for free.
