Fresh Fish
Just got back from Panama City Florida...the Redneck Riviera folks. A few days of family vacation in beautiful weather during the off season. We rented a luxury condo for a great price and enjoyed the practically deserted beaches, hot tub, heated pool, etc. Me and one of my brothers got in some fishing on a 10 hour party boat trip. Caught 52 lbs of Scampy, Beeliner, White Grouper, and one big ole King Mackerel. Since last Saturday I've had filets baked, blackened, grilled, and prolly a couple of ways I forgot about. If you ever have a chance to tear into some fresh King I'd strongly recommend you jump on it.
Catching a 6:30 flight in the am to South Carolina for work. Time to pay the piper.

RE: Fresh Fish
Glad you had a good trip Jim. Now go to work like the rest of us folks and earn your keep. Don't tell my wife you have been on the beach for she would live on one if she could. Gonna have to stop spending so much on fishing and save for a trip of the lifetime to take her to the beach SOON, VERY SOON.

RE: Fresh Fish
Hey El,
It's not that expensive during the low season, and it's a great way to get in good graces with the better half. The key is not to accept the posted lodging rates, call and negotiate hard. I got a spectacular 1800 sq ft 3 br 2 ba beachfront condo that put up one of my brothers and his 2 kids, my 2 sisters, my mother, my wife and daughter for under $200 a nite. The posted rate was over $350 a nite. We're talking tasteful decor, (well my wife said it was) full kitchen, big beds with hdtv/dvd and a slider door to the wrap around patio in every room, killer stereo system, heated pool, 2 hot tubs, etc. Serious luxury for a hick like me.
I had my 70lb test line broken twice by god knows what kind of critters doing their best to drag me out of the boat. Caught a bunch fish and got some nice holes bit in my thumb trying to dehook a grouper. It don't get no better than that.
The cost is small potatoes for man of your means. Besides if you're running short Danny'll peel you a few C's off his stash.

RE: Fresh Fish
"Small Potatoes for man of my Means" You gotta be kidding me, Just moved into my new house in June, still trying to sell my other house so that is 2 different house payments, went and bought a new explorer a couple of months ago due to my wife's crash up derby venture, 17 year old, 16 year old, and 3 year old plus this terrible fishing disease. If it was not for my success at the Horse Track and Casino, I would be selling my boat and all my fishing gear just to make ends meat. I will be in touch for some more infor for my wife has been on me for years to take her to the beach. I may have to hit up Danny for a few C Notes to help pay for this adventure. If I can ever land that 12 pounder, maybe I will get enough endorsements to cover a few bills and a trip or two.

DH & Elnut....
Hey guys,
I really appreciate your faith in my wealth and bank account balance. Please remember I am not only broke... I am now in negative balance...LOL... so if you guys could contact my bank, and convince them my balance is really much higher, and get them to adjust it, then I'll peel off a few of those old C notes. LMAO
Good luck next weekend guys. Looks like the weather around here will be perfect for what you guys are doing, cold... cold... cold... brrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!
Tight lines and God Bless
Danny

RE: Fresh Fish
Devils Horse -- I couldn't agree with you more about the King Mackerel. We had some in south Carolina a few years ago. A local guy carved it up into big chunks and light fried it for us. Man!!! I still say that was the best fish I've EVER eaten, hands down!

RE: Fresh Fish
King is some premium eatin alright. I threw a coupla big slabs on the grill with some garlic butter and cajun spices. Mmm Mmm, grab the side of the table good! If you ever have a chance try some Scampy(sp?), it's definitely the 'cavair' of the grouper family. Gotta be fresh, once any kind of fish has been frozen, it just ain't as good.
