How often do you respool with braid?

This year with the float and fly is my first experience with braid(8 lb fireline). How long does it last on the spool before you need to change it out? I noticed that the smoke color tends to fade. I assume that it's just the dye on the line. I am planning on switching to braid this summer for pitching and am just trying to learn about the stuff. Thanks, Cliff.

I still use braid that i spooled a year or so back (30-50lb). I have pulled it off in the yard and respooled it in reverse just to get the new feel and color back for awhile.
IMO it comes down to what your habits are some people just like the confidence of new line which can be expensive. The braid will last a long time (years) and that depends on how you use it. I don't spool my entire reel with it either, I just tie a blood knot and put enough on for my flipping, pitching, slop fishing or c-rigging.
Good luck with it. It's good stuff for specific applications.

Chunkin...JUst unspool the ole line on another reel. The bottom part of the line is still in good shape and hardly used.

Have you all used braid for any other applications besides F-N-F like crank baits or anything else?

I mainly use braid on spinning outfits, when I am pitching tubes or small jigs. I have been using some of the same braid for about 3 seasons. The color does fade---but I don't care. Power-Pro!

I like braid on a carolina rig too. use it for the main line and a either flouro or mono leader depending on how fast i want the bait to sink. the stuff lasts forever IMO. I usually flip the spool at the end of the year the respool after 2 years.

How about 5 years, and still strong as ever, thats spiderwire 30lb test, my power pro 20/6 is 4 yrs old, and still strong, but I do use a seagar flouoleader and check it often, cutting off a ft once in a while
