Lowrance GPS
The wife gave me the go ahead to get a GPS for the boat. I would like to get a Lowrance 520 or 522. I can't decide if the model with the external antenna is better than the one with the built in antenna. I have heard on the older models that the internal antenna has a hard time reading. Does anyone know if they have been able to correct this problem. Thanks for the advice.

Don't know for sure, but you sure do see alot of the external antennas running around. My choice would be the 520---thinking about one for myself.

RE: Lowrance GPS
I bought the 334gps and have just now put it in the boat. I have not tried it on the lake yet. I did a lot of asking about the pros and cons of the internal verses the external antenna. From what I gathered the internal is as good except do not let the unit lay flat on its back because it will then loose the signal. I was informed that the pros tried to use it that way. I hope to try the GPS out soon and will post how it performed. I will of course try to get it to not work by placing it in different positions.

Thanks. I just got a reply from another board and a guy said that if there is very much tilt that it will loose the signal. So I may lean toward the 520 as well.

RE: Lowrance GPS
My Boat has the 332c on it with external. My cousin has the 334 with internal. His does lose signal in places where mine does not. So I think the external is the way to go.
