Just an Observation
While Im was sitting here getiin my Fishin.com fill I started looking at the discussion boards from the other states. WOW!!! There's hardly anyone logged into the other boards at all , while this board has 43 fishin nuts logged on! Don't get me wrong. I love it that the fisherman in this area are as enthused about fishing , even in the winter as I am. Whats with the guys in the other states that border us??

Re: Just an Observation
My guess is it may be an advertising or word of mouth issue.I talk to quite a few fisherman that have never heard of fishin.com and i always tell them to check it out. This is a great informational tool and at the least its entertaining or i think it is anyway.Im sure with a nice sponsor this site could up the advertising but with most sponsers i would think that they would come in and change things, maybe for the better or worse.I think the best thing we can do to get more people involved is word of mouth.

Re: Just an Observation
Yea I believe we all have noticed that at some point or another. According to my wife we just have a little less sense than others. I tell her that it is actually the opposite. We've got more sense cause thats the one place I know she won't follow. LOL
Great guys and gals on the Kentucky site who I think just like to share their passion about fishin and can get along without to many flareups.

Re: Just an Observation
Maybe it is because we have so many lakes in our state. Maybe it is because we have a greater number of fishermen with computer skills. Maybe it is because people in Kentucky love to fish and hunt as well as they like their basketball and football. But to me it seems like there are alot of good fishermen that have acquired the skills to enjoy the art of fishing while enjoying the fellowship of their fellow fishermen. There are alot of guys on this site here in Kentucky that have a wealth of knowledge and are not concerned about sharing their information to help others. A fisherman does not have to share their fishing spots, but there has been a lot information exhange in this past year. This has to be healthy for our state, fisheries and most of all the fellowship among the Kentucky fishermen. I think this group of guys who love to fish so much is a special bunch. I remember the post of what everyone did in their personal lives. Everyone one loves to fish, but we also love to share our defeats and victories on the water.

Re: Just an Observation
Don't want to get off track on this but i really feel it goes deeper than just passionate fisherman. I have lived in many states including Florida and i honestly feel that this part of the country has a stronger feel of community, history and honor than other places that i have lived. I call Kentucky home even though i have only lived here 11 years. It's a great place to be with alot of fantastic people in this entire area. Met several great people and fisherman on here as well!

Re: Just an Observation
Well said DJD and bonefish.I have met and fished with several really nice guys on this site.I also have got alot of really good ideas on here, like man how cool would it be to float down a creek and fish and fish like the creekbankers do.Also when i thought of the ohio river i just thought of catfish carp, but its seems now its really a great fishery of a lot of species.I got friends on here that i fish with and some id like to fish with, information i could use and entertainment that cures my boredom, ive been on quite a few fishing forums but this site has something that the others dont.Oh yea and sometimes fishrgurls are fisherguys lol.sry had to throw that in.

Re: Just an Observation
Personally, I just read on here to find out when GW's going fishing. I then load up my boat, cover it with bushes and camouflage tape. After that, I follow GW around the lake all day in stealth mode, wait til he clears a spot, then fish it for all it's worth. I usually end up catching the 3 inchers he leaves behind.
Make's life worth living...

[/QUOTE]Basshuntin I am from Illinois and I can tell you if you live in Kentucky you have more good fishing than Illinois by a large margin. Our rivers are muddy and have carp and catfish. our lakes are few and overfished. However what makes this board work are the people. We have folks who are willing to help others catch fish. I think it is rare to have a guide of Dave Stewarts credentials willing to share information with the board and I think we have some folks on other lakes that are as skilled and are sharing info. I don't know how we got to this point but we need to make sure we keep it going. I thank everyone who are on this board posting and I was lucky to meet several at the float and fly. Keep her up.

Re: Just an Observation
Boards that have this kind of participation aren't too common, that's for sure. There are a few others out there. There's a fishing site for Minnesota that gets TONS of traffic, but fishing in Minnesota is a religion.

Re: Just an Observation
I own a couple sites. One is a national site and one is Indiana specific. It is not the name in the browser that makes a site successful, it is the people who visit it and share information that make them great. This site is linked up from both of mine and mine are linked up from here. The internet is truly a great tool for meeting fella's to fish with. Without it I would have not met Billy and a few other goons from here a few years back. I do regret meeting Billy though, atleast untill he sends me my jigs for his loosing bet on the AFC Championship game:D **** Billy, both of miss the Dale shindig at the same time, that ****S!!!!!
