Will the FnF bite turn on this year? opinion
Ok smalljaw experts, what is your opinion on the F-N-F bite this year.
I have had some tell me with the warmer water temps this year that the smallies might not turn on this year on the fly. It's almost febuary and time is closing in.
Some say any day and others say it will pass this year. What do you think?

I am far from an expert but my personal feelings are that we did have several days when the bite was good for the float-n-fly but nothing sustained for a long period like last year. I'm afraid the prime time is past us for this year. There will without a doubt be fish caught on the float-n-fly this year but February has always been a tough month for me. All this said, I still plan to make a few more trips with the long pole before putting it up til next December.

I'm no expert by any stretch of anyones imagination, all I know is that it hasn't happened for me yet this year, but I have heard of a few being caught on it. Maybe there is still hope!
Re: Will the FnF bite turn on this year? opinion
I think the float n fly bite should improve if the weather stays cold enough to drop the water temps and keep them in the mid 40's for a while. The smallmouth should suspend and therefore the FnF should shine. I have caught several fish on the fly since just after Thanksgiving. I was catching them on the fly with water temps in the 50's. I have had only one trip that I failed to catch a fish on Dale but the person fishing with me boated 2 and had one pull off at the boat. I have been averaging at least 5 fish a day. This is not tremendous but steady.
