So what can we do to help?
There has been a ton of discussion about the draw down and its potential effects, but less about the opportunities it presents. This may be, and hopefully WILL be, the only time in our lifetimes this lake will be this low. I'd like to hear about whatever projects may be planned, or ideas that board members may have, to take advantage of this, be they cleanup, creating fish attractors, or whatever. Perhaps someone with Fish & Wildlife contacts could consult with them on the subject? That would be ideal, because I'd rather help out with something that is focused on correcting a specific problem, or improving the environment in some measurable way, rather than just deciding independently that such and such a place needs structure, and dropping pine trees (or whatever) onto the bottom. This would also help offset some of the losses that the local businesses are suffering.
Thanks,
Jon Davis
PS: I've been planning my first ever Cumberland visit for this summer, and I'm not going to let this draw down stop me!
Re: So what can we do to help?
I think everyone needs to go down and build some cover, and GPS the coordinates and send them to me and I will compile them. And in 5 to 10 years when the lake comes back up I'll run down there and let you all know the results..LOL :D
On the serious side if we can help PLEASE let me know how and when.

OK First off the Corps has restrictions in place to prevent work without their knowledge. Fish and Wildlife is working on a plan for the lake and will call for help as soon as they have the plan in place. Don't start going down there and doing anything crazy just yet. Benjy Kinman assured me that he would work with the Federations and clubs to get something in place.

Thanks, Jim. That's exactly the response I was hoping for.
