Re: The Salty Dog
You know I never thought of that before but it makes sense. I take it, they ain't a bitin right now for you Chuck. I hate winter I'll be really glad when it ends, come'on spring come'on. Hang in there you'll be bustin'em again soon like you always do.

Re: The Salty Dog
I was thinking of going over there Saturday - but dressed warmer this time. Where's the best place to go? Park at the interpretive center and head down river along the banks?

Re: The Salty Dog
Horsefly, I like your avatar. Water is probably still too swift right there below the center, head down stream a bit and check it out.

Re: The Salty Dog
Thanks, that was after an all nighter in Vegas this past summer... it's a funny picture b/c I'd been drinkin' all night and was trying to recover with a smoothie (and cigarette - nice, huh? Though I'm quitting smoking now) and saw the showgirl and just had to get a picture... good times!
Thanks for the info... so would it be best to park there, then walk downstream along the bank, say, 100 yards? Or is that too far? I really just need to get down there and check it out. I'm real ignorant about the place... which I hear is a shame!

Re: The Salty Dog
Probably easier to inspect by vehicle. I'm not exactly sure what it looks like right now but I do know the water is still way up. If Chuck, riverat ever gets back on and checks this he'll tell you what you need to know, gotta love showgirls, Dang.
... gotta love showgirls, Dang.
YEP! :) My wife took the picture and was crackin' up at me 'cause I was all excited to get a pic of me and the showgirl... pretty funny.
So you can drive down through there? Again, I'm not real knowledgeable about the area, the only place I've been is the interpretive center parking lot. Maybe I'm thinking of it too small an area... ?

Re: The Salty Dog
Why didn't someone tell me is was cold down there!!!!lol,Oh my what a day I only took one truck break...well deserved came up from the creek after about 3 and a half hour ...caught 5 little channels about 20 in..2 buffalo 1 drum and 1 carp no sauger all rough fish!!!catfish I caught about 4 ft slip bobber blood treble with three minows on .1 fish I thought was huge sauger....not... horsefly, if you go go tomorrow river is fallin go on down past the rocks to colgate creek ...fish the mouth white jig caught the rest like that....fun on semi ultra light for the river. When I came up I put a carolinia rig with the blood hook and three big minnows right below the rocks picked it up ones and thought it was hung let it lay while I threw a jig nothin on the jig but reeled in a 18 1\2 inch sauger I didn't know I had in the main streem right below the rocks pea gravel area. What I think this tells me is the rough fish don't mind the salt but maybe the sauger do... he was in the main stream I mean she big belly and tight too huh!! Mark your right it is to dang cold .I had to keep my b#$R warm...lol...chuck P.s. don't forget your minnow net..
