can any one tell me something. this is my first boatand 80 people read this but nobody knows if i need to do anything or not. dont want to sound mad i just dont know and i dont want to mess it up because it is in good shape. and i cnt afford it eather
You didnt say how long it's been since you took it out so I'll assume you lowered the lower unit down as they will hold water, freeze and maybe bust. If you ran it after fogging the oil you put on the cylinders is gone,it only coats the walls until you run it,if your gonna let it set for awhile you might consider refogging, as far as fluids and oils you need to change your lower unit oil after you store it for winter as a bad seal will let water in and freeze but if it hasnt happened yet your probably good

smuckey/41,
1988 merc. if not oil injection (probably not) when you ran it last if you did not disconnect the fuel line and run gas and oil mix out of carbs they stand to be gummed up unless you are lucky. How long has it been since you used the motor?? was the fuel treated for storage?
Given all the above I would change lower unit oil! Make sure I had fresh fuel! ( or fuel & oil mix ) If oil injection check oil. If all checks out put her in the water and give her a spin. Good Luck :)
about a month ago and it is fuel injected. and the gass was treated. so maybee some lower unit oil or lube and if can hold a gallon of oil i should put some of that in to. does that sound about right.

If you changed the lower unit oil when you fogged it and treated the gas you are good. Just go run it. If you need gas put the best gas you can afford and run it. Charge up all you batteries and have fun. Don't forget to put the plug IN.
Top off the oil and you should be ready to go. If you had serviced the lower unit before you put it up the first time ( before the last run ) may just need to check lower unit. If battery's are in good shape you are ready to go.
Hay sorry about the repet mertens357. You must have posted about the time I starter ,but we were right on!!!
