Nolin Last Sat.
We ended up heading to Nolin on saturday morn for the first day out on the lake for the 07 season... Water temps were still somewhere in the low 40's (from what someone at days told me....we didnt have a temp sensor hooked up) but the water had cleared up significantly from what it was earlier in the week. Fished all day long and caught two dinks. ONe came on a shad rap, the other on a tube, both short fish....not a great day, or even good, but who can complain when you're on the water??? Kinda neat to see all the structure thats in the lake when the water gets back up...definately made a few mental notes.
Got caught in the monsoon heading back the the ramp, which made for a cold end to the day, but a fulfilling one nonetheless.

Re: Nolin Last Sat.
Atleast you guys got on the water.........
I watched the weather forecast and decided to put in a long night of working on the boat friday night before the rains came. I worked on it until about 2:30 in the morning! I slept in to about 11 a.m. on Sarturday and awoke to a yucky wet day......Sunday was drier, but the extremely gusty winds kept me from getting out there! Why can't it be sunny on the weekend?!?! I swear! If this cabin fever gets any worse I'm going to have to start skipping some work on these sunny days! Seems like it's nice all week and then horrible on the weekends! What is the deal?!
Thank goodness the time change is earlier this year! I can't wait! Just two more weeks!!!!!!!!!!

Ha ha ha!!! That's funny right there!!! Usually when my garbage cans are trying to blow away, that's a good sign that Ky Lake will be Ky OCEAN!!!

Re: Nolin Last Sat.
Were y'all practicing for the March 11th Renegade? I put in about 3 hours there last Thursday and got skunked. Water was in the 30's, but I'm figuring this weekend's rains will warm it up some.

Re: Nolin Last Sat.
Yeah we're fishin the ABA tourney on the 11th as a qualifier for our fishin club....just tryin to get a little early practice in and see how the bite was. Hoping that the weather will warm up the water and start to turn that bite on before the tournament, although i dont think its gonna get warm enough for that to happen unfortunately

I also fished there last Saturday, and did well. The water at Wax was 46 deg and in Rock and Dog Creeks it was 40-42, Long Fall area was 39.8 - 40.7. I got lucky caught 8 fish with two keepers. One about 2.5 lb and the other 4-07 all on jig. Not sure if my scales are correct because she was over 21" long. What do you all think?
Spoke with a friend of mine that fished Sunday and water at Wax was 47 and muddy.

Re: Nolin Last Sat.
Hey Mark, this is Eric. It was tough on us, we also fished Dog Creek and Rock Creek on Saturday. It is hard to fish slow when you have KVD running the trolling motor! I threw the jig ALOT had one good hit on it, threw the shaky head and didnt even get a small KY on it, then switched to the tube and caught a short and had a couple other swipes at it. Sounds like you did better than us. We have a club tourney there on the 11th, then Cody and I are fishing the USA Bassin Twin Lakes on the 18th there. Have you ever fished these or heard anything about them? Only reason we were going to is because I have a cabin on Nolin and he has one on Rough, so we don't have to worry about food or lodging for these tourney's...especially on that college budget!

Nolin Last Sat.
Hey good to hear from you. Send me an e-mail at [email protected] and I will give you some information. Hint I was not using what most people think of as being a normal type jig jig. I caught 57 fish down there last month with 9 keepers, I think it was, with 53 coming from this same bait.

Re: Nolin Last Sat.
Hey guys.
I MAY, dependant on the weather, try to get on either Nolin or Green on friday. It looks like a good, warm rain coming in on Thursday.....probally be out as a prep to my KY Lake trip, trying to work the kinks out of the boat and rods. But I would like to get some good pole bendin action. Bass perferabally. I am very familiar with Nolin from about Mountideer to Wax, Green, not so much. Any help is appreciated, as always.

Well if you are going to Nolin I would try the main lake points and walls. The fish were still there last weekend I know. Like I said earlier I caught my fish working a jig type bait real slow on bottom in stained water. I styed out of the clearest water but was not in the muddy water.
