Energy Lake April first crappie fishing
Hello
We will be heading down to this lake the first week of April. Does anyone know what the fishing conditions are like this time of the year? What type of fish bite? And what types of bait to use. Is this a good lake to fish without a boat? Is a canoe a good choice? We have never been and are classified as Green Horns. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Re: Energy Lake April first crappie fishing
I would take a jon boat with a small gas motor if I had access to one. Energy is a pretty big lake and paddling a canoe would take up alot of fishing time. Crappie: If water temp is 58 or up they will be shallow. When I say shallow I mean1'-3' deep. The whole lake is relatively shallow. I've caught some good numbers there drifting with the wind, using floaters if the waves are'nt bad tight lines if they are. Jigs or minnows? I always take both. Bass: rattle traps.
