KY Lake Next Week
Goin to KY Lake next week, and I must be excited...just a little!
Went to BPS tonight, bought an unexplainable $100 worth of lures. I'm prepared for any type of condition or fish. I have worms, jigs, hair jigs, crankbaits of all sizes and depths and brands, float and flies, scent, zara spooks.
Do you think I'm excited....just a little?
With the BEEEE-U-TEE-FULL weather we will be experiencing next week, just what do you guys think they will be doing? I have heard bluff walls, I would like to get into some topwater action, is it too early?

Re: KY Lake Next Week
All I can say is to watch that water temperature! It is the key to everything you need to know! If you don't know how water temperature affects the bass, do a little research - it is probably one of the most important things to know when fishing in early spring.

Re: KY Lake Next Week
Don't forget about the Jerkbaits on wind blown main lake points and secondary points and Silver Buddy deeper off the points. As far as the topwater bite, you may be a bit early. I think Dave is posting his weekly lake reports and you will defineately learn from that. I guess I should include if you are chasing Brown fish for what I posted is what I would be doing if I was there. Good Luck

Re: KY Lake Next Week
I know about that water temp! I'm just wondering exactly what its going to do. If its sunny and warm, maybe one rain, I'm lookin for mid-50s on the water temp and great fishing. A cloudy day, and fishing deteriorates big time. Its all in the hands of the great big fish god...and I hope hes good to me :-D

I've been told their killing them on jerkbaits on the main lake ledges and points.

Re: KY Lake Next Week
Check out my report that I will be writing this evening and putting up tonight after I get off the water today. I hope you bought some suspending jerkbaits...I see you bought some crankbaits, that is a good thing.

Re: KY Lake Next Week
Thanks Dave
I reallly have an extensive aresenal of baits. I did buy some suspending rapala jerkbaits, as well as some surface spooks in various colors, but I bought more dark because of my thought that the lake would be stained. But overall, I have the tackle box that can truly throw anything, anytime.
I will be staying with a friend south of Murray. We will be keeping our boat at Irving?? Marina in the Blood River. I have heard some pretty extraordinary things about the Blood River, so I am fit to be tied this week!

Re: KY Lake Next Week
I believe that you are talking about Irvin Cobb Marina. Yes, Blood River is awesome! If I were you, I'd venture out on the main lake part however, maybe start hitting main and secondary points with rock. I'd be working my way south - the bay near the Hudson Grain terminal usually holds good fish this time of year, usually on the southern side of the mouth. Start at the mouth and fish your way in until you find them! Good Luck!

Re: KY Lake Next Week
I was out saturday and sunday. Cranks on saturday and jerkbaits worked on sunday. The warmest I saw was 47 degrees sunday afternoon. with the beautiful weather we've had this week, I would be working jerkbaits almost exclusively. good luck
