Help on Malone
I'm going to Malone on Fri. and need any help I can get. I've never fished Malone this early, usually fish for bluegill later in the year. I know there are some nice bass in Malone but there dosen't seem to be much structure or drop offs. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Help on Malone
I've only fished Malone once this early and it was many, many years ago. I would suggest heading uplake, past shady cliff, to where the lake shallows out and begins to look like a clear lowland resivoir. I have seen some huge fish sunning themselves, but still, my only keepers have come down by the d-a-m and back in the area known as sherwood forrest.
A lot of the posters that used to post on the old board fished Malone a lot, if they migrated over here, maybe you will get better informaiton.
Good luck,
Danny

Re: Help on Malone
Try using a clown colored jerk bait. Fish them around the bluffs were the lake intersects there are quite a few ledges and large sunkin bolders (they resemble humps if you can idle around and find them on your graph.) in that area. Also try black/blue , green pumpkin jigs around the bluffs. I have done pretty good like this at this time of the year. You can even fish the shoreline with the jerk bait (mostly in rip rap banks) and do well but I wouldn't go to shallow. I wouldn't fish anything shallower than 10ft. IMO.

Re: Help on Malone
There is a cove, not too far from the main state ramp that has a lot of wood cover right next to deep water. I would try there and fish a jig/pig combo. I've hung some big fish there.
