What is the date that the C.O.E. start holding the water to bring the lakes back up from winter draw down?
If I am reading the graphs right for Taylorsvile, Nolin, Rough, Green, Barrin, etc. they start holding water on the 15th of March with a target date of being at Summer pool on the 15th of April. Of course, the operative word here is TARGET date because a whole lot depends on how much rain we get or how little rain we get.

Alot of that depends on Mother Nature but most lakes start filling up mid March. They hope to have em filled for the spawns.

He didn't ask when they start filling up, he asked when the COE starts holding water and that is the 15th of March. The target date to have them at summer pool is the 15th of April. Further more, I think RAIN is part of MOTHER NATURE.

hold the water = fill up with water
dang your right rain is part of mother nature
I was just wondering if you had read my first post and if you had read it, why you thought it necessary to be a SMARTASS and reiterate what I had said.

Target is certainly a key word....
I remember one year, not too long ago, that they had filled Barren fully about this time of year, but decided to let it all out. After that, they couldn't get it refilled the rest of the year and the lake sat at about 10 ft. below summer pool throughout the summer.
So yes, Target is the key word, cause noone is gona tell mother nature what to do!
April 1 for KY/Barkley
the 15th is when they start holding them and they aren't supposed to open them for flood control until they are at summer pool whenever that is after the 15th of march. As for having them up for spawn the core couldn't care less,i was made very aware of this the year rough river was low all season. It is flood control the recreation that year they goofed by dropping them.I talked to them about our docks being dry all summer cause the cove never filled up,they want us to pay the fees but they really don't care if we can use them wether they are up in the tree tops or setting on bottom.
and as quoted to me from the core,"we work as much with the kdfw as we can to keep the fishery going but the drawdown and holding of water is flood control only,if the spawn is left high and dry so be it if need be".
I think it was 6 or seven years ago when Barren liked around 7' reaching summer pool. Lots of rain early then nothing. Was really weird seeing all the flats grown up with weeds.
