Trolling motor prop?
Without going into the embarassing details, I need to replace my trolling motor prop (motorguide trolling motor).
I have noticed there are some 3 blade props available, one is made out of metal.
My question should I upgrade to a 3 blade prop, should I go metal?

The metal prop is only recommeded for the Tour 82 or larger motors.

Re: Trolling motor prop?
The three blade is more weedless than the two blade. It has shorter, sharper blades and has a tapered hub. That's all meant for chopping up weeds and keeping them from wrapping around your trolling motor.
The basic rule of thumb is to get the 3 blade if you're fishing weedy areas, and a two blade if you're not in the weeds.
I keep one of each, and swap them out as the water conditions dictate.
It's a wise move to keep a spare in the boat anyway. A busted TM prop with no spare can ruin an entire trip to the lake.

You are right basswipe, I've learned my lesson and will keep a spare on board from now on....

Re: Trolling motor prop?
Just went through replacing the motor guide, you need to check your hub, there are 2 size's: 3 inch hub and 3.5 hub, as for as 2 blade or 3 blade that will determine power or speed, 2 for speed 3 for power ebay worked for me,
you should get a new one on there for about 20 w/shipping
