Deep cycle battery question
Hey guys, I feel stupid asking this question but I wanted to see if anyone had any advice on my battery situation. Last week I was out on the lake and my battery was not fully charged so of course it died. I went home and put it on my charger (it is only a 4 amp charger) and the charger would not charge it. This weekend I bought an onboard charger for my boat and decided to try charging my deep cycle battery on that before i shell out money for a new battery. I charged it with the on board charger(which is more powerful) and now my battery is fully charged. , I have let it sit for 2 days and it is still holding a charge. It seems to me that the battery is fine. I think it must have been deeply discharged and needed the extra power of the onboard charger. Do you all think I should just buy a new battery or give my old one another shot
Re: Deep cycle battery question
I would be willing to give the battery another shot. If it was totally dead your 4-amp may not have been able to pick it up. Another consideration would be the age of the battery. If it is 2 1/2 to 3 years old, then I think I would go ahead and replace it. Good Luck,
Re: Deep cycle battery question
It's not your battery - it's your boat. You need to replace it :)
Hey man, it's your old neighbor, where did you move off to? I just moved a few months ago as well. Last month the neigborhood got hit with some people breaking into cars. I'm glad my boat wasn't there because they would have cleaned me out.
Take care and blessed fishin,
jeremy
Re: Deep cycle battery question
I'd use a 10 amp charger. If the battery craps out again, get an Optima. Bit more $, but they last.
Re: Deep cycle battery question

Thanks for the info guys, I am going to give it another shot this weekend and see what happens.
Re: Deep cycle battery question
I moved to the Bonnieville/Munfordville area right around Christmas time. I took a new pastorate.
Wife...Wasn't it girlfriend last time I talked to you, maybe I'm just making things up? If you did get married - congratultions. If you've had a wife since I've known you, then please forgive me, I'm losing my mind at the old age of 26.
I've not been fishing hardly at all except for a few ponds. Our church has been hit extremely hard with sickness and death. Tomorrow will make 4 funerals in just under 2 months.
I'll be on the water soon. If you're ever down this way let me know and we'll do some fishin.
later,
jeremy
