Fishing Today - Sat.
First day of fishing on Springbreak. I went local today - Wilgreen in Richmond. Lots of boats they had a tournament first thing this morning. I heard someone had there 5 fish limit. Bass fished from about 10am to 1:30, only caught 1 fish on a crankbait. Then went for some meat after my brother in law picked up a nice crappie by drowning a minnow behind the boat. We then switched over for 2 hours after the crappie. We boated 8 crappie. 2 got off right at the boat. Not bad for a couple of hours. Crappie were avg. 7-9 inches. With the biggest going almost 12 inches. We caught on minnows and white hair crappie jigs. Fish came right at the edge of moss in 3 - 5 feet of water. The crappie are better size this year at Wilgreen. Go gettem' and have some fun.

Re: Fishing Today - Sat.
I fished Wilgreen from 3 to 7 for crappie and got skunked. Only second time I have ever been to the lake and last years spot did not produce. I guy across the cove from me caught fat largemouth, it appeared to be full of eggs and it went straight in the livewell. Just before that he told me that the lake is overfished go figure.

I would agree the lake is overfished...but it would help if someone like him would put them girls back! If you want something to eat...get those crappie. Caught most of our fish in Old Town branch on the left side. We pulled out at about 4pm.

Re: Fishing Today - Sat.
I dont know anything about the lake, I just know the second cove down on the right. I live on the reservior in Lexington so I can bass fish any time. I hoped to use Wilgreen for some crappie fillets. Maybe weekend after Easter will be a little more friendly. We were on the water at the same time then, I was in a jon boat wandering the lake aimlessly.

I remember passing you on my way in. You were on a point heading into the creek area. I passed in an alumcraft center console, I fished the grass flat with my brother in law and headed in.
