I'm looking in to buying a fly vise to use mostly on Bass size tackle. With a clamp type of 'base' so it can be attached to a table top. Any suggestions or brands? Also looking at bobbins.
Thanks,

Barry, not sure how much this will help, but Bass Pro Shop has a fly tying kit for tying bass flies for $35. It has the style of vise you are looking for and comes with materials and a video tape. Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but there it is.
Thanks Tim, I saw those kits at BPS but I wasn't sure if they were any good or not. I've got burned on the "kit" deals before. That's why I'm asking. Thanks again,
Barry

I would start with the super AA VISE, FOR 9.99$. got mine from Cabela's great starter vise I tie f-n-f jigs up to 3/4 oz and bigger. It rotates 360, all around good vise and you ant out a wad of cash. IMHO Happy Tieing.
I picked up a Renuzi Saltwater Traveler vise about 4 years ago. Not cheap (around $250 if I remember right). Real good vise. 360 rotation. Tied mostly striper jigs with it (1 - 9/0 hooks), but also did some smaller bass/panfish sized jigs and flies. I have tied 1000's of jigs on this vise with no problems. I got the clamp on base, but they also make a stand up base.

Take the biggest lure and the smallest lure that you would want to use the vice and go to one of the home improvement/hardware stores and talk to someone in there. That salesperson should be able to show you what is needed for what you might use. Might be cheaper than a fishing/sports store.
