bowfishing

just wondering how many people on the board injoy this type of fishing.
what lakes or rivers do yall do the best in. i have tried green and rough river.

I do. In fact I am heading to barren tomorrow to do some because the carp are up spawning this time every year and you can do it in the daytime instead of how we do it the rest of the year which is at night. We go on the Ohio river a lot.

when you go out at do you run a generator or a spot light. i use a spot light. went out sat and did well on the drum on green river did not see many carp yet. saw one cat looked around 20 lbs just chillin shot and missed. but man it was a brut. let me know how you do on barren i may take a trip down there for those carp

When we go at night we run a generator with 8 500 watts lights. It's loud but it doesn't seem to bother the fish. What a ball I am leaving in about eight hours.

What area of Green River were you shooting at, me and a buddy was thinking of going out saturday. If you are in the Campbellsville area and need any bowfishing and fishing supplies stop in and see me, Crazy Horse Archery & Tackle, I am on hwy 55 about 1 mile before you turn off to the state park.

i put in at the marina/state park i will try to stop by some time. but i hit up alot of the coves, i usually start down river of the state park and head up to holmes bend(sp). i am in a bass tracker 175 proteam my bro and dad will be with me. the drum were shallow last weekend and lots of carp in the backs of coves.
i posted a pic of one of the drum i got last weekend on the photo board.

Will be going out tommorrow if the weather is good, will probably start out tommorow afternoon and shoot till dark or a little later.
Hopefully the water will still be clear, we hade a couple of heavy rains the last couple of nights.

Will post the results of how we do.

Didn't have much luck shooting the carp the other night (saturday) saw numerous fish, lots of big female bass that were bedding, for you bass fishermen. Went up to wilson creek, carp had the water so muddied up with the rains you could not see them. the water was churning like it was boiling with all of the fish in there. Will probably try it again in a couple of days, going to let the water clear up a bit.

i did good took my bro for his first time he loved it we went thru the cut and to the right there is a cove and you could not count the carp there were so many also went down river and got one that went well over 20lbs. got a generator from a buddy and some halogens rigged on my boat if the weather is fair going to head back down there sat night. put it this was i wore out a brand new arrow sat the ip was almost flat tipped and the the piece that stops the slide broke off and the screw stripped out.

I was fishing in Craig's Creek in Gallatin Co. for crappie, yesterday. There were lots of carp rutting in the shallow back-waters, and right up against the banks. I reckon its about time to get my bowfishing gear back out.
Did ya see where the big bowfishing tournament is going to be held down at Barkley? I can only imagine the boat-loads of carp that will be hauled out of there. I wonder what they do with the carcasses?

I shot Rough last weekend w/ the kids and we had a great time.
Longnose were spawning and the boys must have shot at, at least 50. I only took a couple as they were having too much fun slinging arrows. I managed to take 2 over 50". Cleaned one of them and fried it for the kids for dinner. Dang good!

There's a youth bowfishing tourney at Rough Saturday.
I'll post up all the info as it's a GREAT time and the kids last year had a ball. They all walk away w/ a ton of goodies.
