Sportsmen's Warehouse NOW OPEN in Lexington
I went today to check it out. I will continue to support the local guys but this place has it all. I was thoroughly impressed with the selection in the fishing dept. They have baits and terminal tackle you will not find at any other store in Lexington. IMO, their fishing dept. is better than some of the Bass Pro Shops I have visited (Memphis and Destin for sure)...

On Sir Barton close to Winchester Rd.

Ran through there yesterday between meetings. Pretty good selection of just about everything in the fishing dept. I also was impressed with the stock of items for the house. I'm going to redo my bathroom with a fishing theme and I saw several things I'm going to pick up. I really like the toilet seat with the fishing lures on it.

The store is great but like you i'll send the majority of my business to Backwaters or other locally owned stores. If they don't have it i'll buy it at Sportsmans Warehouse.:)
Re: Sportsmen's Warehouse NOW OPEN in Lexington
I'll agree that SW has a TON of stuff...I thought they were a little light on rod selection and a little light on reel selection...but as far as baits, tackle, line, gear...WOW.
I'll still go to Backwaters, like DJD said, but SW is pretty cool. It didn't appear that their prices were bargain basement low-ball, which is good for the local shops.
I especially like their hunting/shooting department. Their shotgun selection kicked butt, ammo and reloading supplies, etc. I manhandled a new carbon fiber Benelli 12 guage and contemplated doing something stupid, but withstood the urge.
Nice place.
I took pictures with my cell phone, because I'm a geek.

Re: Sportsmen's Warehouse NOW OPEN in Lexington
I just came back from my first trip...
On entrance, it'll take your breath.
Fishing wise.....I wasn't impressed at all. Prices weren't considerably cheaper. Heck most of the stuff is the same price as the local bait shops...
I'll stick with Backwatersl....
