Another Marina on Harrods Creek has been posted.
A small marina above the first bridge on Harrods Creek is now posted as no fishing. A nice gentleman came out today and attempted to run off a couple of anglers. His comment was that the Board of the Marina had taken a vote and that the marina was now off limits to fishing..
NOW here is his problem. The Marina owns land on both sides of the creek.. yes there is a free flowing creek in the middle of this Marina.. so the "BOARD" can vote all it wants, but can not enforce the ruling, as I understand the law. Unlike the Captains Quarters, which is posted, Captains Quarters was owned property which was excavated to create the bay.. and YES I AM AWARE that some of you still disagree with this and I DO Understand.
This is only an informational post. To let you know that if you fish this particular marina you may have problems.. with the director or whomever this guy is.
PLEASE! Be polite. Let him take your picture, let him call the police as he did today.. they did not come and no one was ticketed. IF the Fish and Wildlife officer shows up point out that the Marina is on a FREE flowing body of water and that unlike Captains Quarters it is not on private property.. and that the Department told a recent tournament director that the ONLY Property on Harrods Creek that could not be fished was Captains Quarters.

Thanks for the info Jim, I guess some more Marina Owners are getting their panties in a bind and don't like fishermen fishing around their property. But I honestly don't see any problems with a fisherman / fisherwoman fishing these area's. As long as the fishing person does their best to not damage anything, what's the big deal?
Re: Another Marina on Harrods Creek has been posted.
I was in the media boat with Jim and the boat driver and we basically thought it was funny. There were three boats, the tournament anglers, the Fox Sports camera boat, and ourselves. At first he spoke to the boat that Jim and I were in, explaining that the BOARD had voted to make it no fishing, when Jim tried to explain to the guy that it was a navigable creek and was therefore open to the public the guy was not happy. After a few minutes of debate between himself and Jim, Jim informed him that it didn't matter anyway, because we were not fishing.
The guy then proceeded to the end of the dock and explained the situation to the anglers. The boater was very polite and after listening to the guy's spin, informed him that he was not fishing in illegal waters and that he intended to stay and fish. This made the guy very upset and he said he would inform the police. After he made several calls, he got flustered and finally begin taking pictures of all three boats and their occupants. That is when Jim, the boat driver and myself began taking pictures of him, taking pictures of us. All in all, it was a very enjoyable morning watching a rich prick being put in his place.
If they can post a navigable creek off the Ohio River, than this fall I intend to post the area of public land that I deer hunt at Taylorsville Lake! If they can claim they own the rights to public property, than so can I.
Re: Another Marina on Harrods Creek has been posted.
Why not post the public road that goes to his marina???
Re: Another Marina on Harrods Creek has been posted.
Better yet, if the guy is posting the land on both sides of the creek, then post the water his docks are on. Wouldn't he just flip if you took some sort of floating buoy with the words posted on them and set them up in the water by his docks.....See what he'd say then!....lol:D

Hahaha.... I wanna see those pictures..... :D
Re: Another Marina on Harrods Creek has been posted.
There is more and more of this taking place these days. The State Dock at Barren now is off limits to all fishing from the jetty point all the way back I'm told, and there have been some tickets issued i'm told.
This was last year I heard this, does anyone know if this is still the law?
Re: Another Marina on Harrods Creek has been posted.
Wow, that's news to me, our club just had a tournament there on May 12th. and I fished all the way back and seen other boats fishing the same area. No one said anything to me about it. I got a meeting tonight with my club and I'll ask to see if anyone has heard anything about this.
It's an open body of water, how can an area be off limits other than if it was a danger zone like around the pumps by the dam.
Re: Another Marina on Harrods Creek has been posted.
Same here, we fished the crap out of the rip rap over by the State Dock. We didn't see the Five-Oh tho, so dunno about any tickets
Re: Another Marina on Harrods Creek has been posted.
Where is all the money that BASS and other organizations have that say they are there to help fight this stuff? Maybe I am wrong about that, but that is why I have let my membership go. If fisherman don't stand up and fight for our rights than it will be easy for them to take over and have their way. I don't know what to do but am willing to help. Ryan
Re: Another Marina on Harrods Creek has been posted.
guys there has got to be something we can do about this, not only about this Marina but all marina's in ky even captain's quaters.
their are enough people on this board surely someone knows somebody with a little bit of pull.
the way i look at it as long as you stay in you boat and your boat is in navagable water we have the right fish anywhere we want.
come on whats next maybe land owners long the river start putting up signs saying it's illegal to be on the river? to me it's the same thing.
I know some people on here are going to say something about them people having more time and money than we do and that maybe it's a lost cause, but
I think that if we can find someone that has a little pull and let us about it so we can get something rolling and WE ALL STAND UNITED we can get this issue resolved.
I'm just curious to know how many members we have on this board. and not only that but how many we have that are willing to stand and fight for our rights.
there's probably not that many of those richs guys that are going to take time out of there rich lives to put up much of a fight against us. and the ones that will try to take a stand will probably give up if we overwhelm them be numbers alone.
also guys keep in mind that we coming up on election year.
maybe can put some weight on these politicians.
I remember reading in bassmaster mag. about someone fighting this an won.
I think it was in virginia.
Re: Another Marina on Harrods Creek has been posted.
well i quess no one is willing to take a stand. I haven't seen any reply's about my post or suggestions on what too do or how to get the ball rolling.
so if no one is willing to fight for our rights then you don't have a right to complain.
