Re: Cedar Creek observation
Everyone needs to keep this number in thier phone----1-800-25-ALERT. It is KDFWRs hotline to report a violation. I have also had runins before with people informing them of the LAW. I try to do it as tactfully as possible, talking to them if a Law Enforcement officer finds them with an illeagal catch than it is a hefty fine and possibly loss of fishing rights. If they do not comply, then I will begin to call KDFWR.
A quick story. I was at the tailwaters at Barren once and a guy was catching hybrids about 12-15 inches long and keeping every single one. He was also keeping short 12-15 largemouth. I approached him and polietly informed him of the law and he looked at his partner, who was probally his son, and said, "I think someone would be well advised to mind his own F--K--G business before he gets hurt." I left that situation alone, but that just goes to show how dangerous these people can be too.

I'll bet I've mentioned 3-4 times on this site that everyone should have that number programmed into their cell phone. I've never used it, but I have had it in there for a few years.

Re: Cedar Creek observation
I'll tell ya, if someone ever threatened me or my family over sticking up for the laws of fishing and hunting....I'd go out of my way as far as I'd have to, to make sure they were reported and fined by the Fish & Game........ Wouldn't bother me if it was the Pope himself......
Re: Cedar Creek observation
I am like anyone else trying to catch that fish of a lifetime and it is idiots like these people who make it harder for that to happen. I fish Laurel Lake alot and the Game Warden has been checking people as they pull out of the ramps here lately. There are not enough of them to go around. I think if they check people more often this would stop alot of this. Most people know they can get away with it since they never get checked. I now have this number stored and would report anyone in a heartbeat.
Re: Cedar Creek observation
Laurel is the only lake I've ever been checked at EVERY SINGLE TIME I GO!!
Too bad there are no fish in that lake :p

Most tournaments held there anymore it takes at least 20lbs of fish on average to win. It takes this to win constantly on this lake. The past few years fishing has really turned on there and producing some huge smallies as well as big largemouth. The former state record of 8lbs came out of Laurel until they finally gave the world record of 12lbs back to the KY side of Dale Hollow.
Re: Cedar Creek observation
I wish one of those huge smallies would be put on my line....I've only caught little bluegil at Laurel.
