Went fishing Saturday night at Willisburg, and my old blacklight finally crapped out, connected it to the battery, started smoking, and never would fire. Does anyone out there have a preference or favorite blacklight that is dependable, pretty bright, and that I could connect straight to the battery terminals. Also where do you guys get your lights at, best price. Thanks for any input.
Reading alot of post back early, most are going to the new LED blacklights. Personally I have a Stan Sloan Piggyback that I like and have had for several years. You can get replacement lights at Wally World and alot of pet shops, just know the correct length you need.
I bought two of the BPS style Black-lights that work either on (Four "D" Cell) batteries or Plugged into your 12V adapter plug or even able to hook up to a battery with the Clamps. They have both the White Light and a Black light as a choice to use while out fishing.
But now I also purchased a LED Black-light that has (3) lights on it that attaches to the visor of your hat. This will probably be my most used light system now, cause it will always be shining in the direction I'm fishing. Bought it at the BPS in Clarksville, IN.

Does the one that clips to your visor work pretty good, does it give enough light to see your line on the bank, at a pretty good distance? I mostly worm fish, and would be lost if I couldnt see my line well. If you dont mind me asking what did you pay for this one at BPS. Thanks
Bought the new LED Night Eyes (iii's) from BPS and I am totally happy! These things out shine anything I have ever seen and only use .01 of an amp. They also are small enough to fit in your tackle box. They are on sale for $39.98 on the net but at the store they will match the price. I bought two but only use one. p.s. LED lights will last about 200,000 hours

since you bought 2, how about doing a test for us. i've heard these only last a few hundred hours. hook 1 up and leave it running for 2 or 3 weeks around the clock, then compare it to the other 1 to see if there is a difference.

Sorry I meant to say 50,000 hours and .1 amp in my post.......
I bought one of these 3 LED black lights that attach to the bill of a baseball cap. They are not very bright. This is the light that costs about $10. And it uses two very thin batteries about the size of a quarter or half dollar coin.
But then again I wear really thick glasses and have a hard time seeing though all that glass at NIGHT! :(
I took my new led black light over to the lake after I bought them and waited until it got dark. I wanted to see how the made fishing line shine in the dark. I found out that not all fishing line will shine up in the dark under a black light. The guys that were fishing the bank this night didn't have florescent fishing line spooled on their reels as their fishing line didn't show up in the dark very good.
I am going to have to buy different fishing line for night fishing. All my fishing line is not fluorescent now.

Yeah, it helps if you got Fishing line that is Florescent, the new light works great for me...Seems like my night vision is really great anyway, but the new LED Black Light makes my Florescent Line show up mighty fine for me.:)
IMHO, go with the led's. Uses "virtually" zero electricity & will fit in your tackle box. I bought one & haven't used my old one since. There is one listed for sale on The Community Tackle Box board.
