Night at Herrington
Any of you fellas been fishing at night on Herrington this past weekend? Looking to go this coming weekend and I mainly fish in the dam end of the lake. Shortens the running in the dark scenario. Any Tips for a starting plan would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Night at Herrington
went last night and put in at cane run, figuring that part of the lake didnt take too bad a weekend beating. The bass were chasing huge balls of shad all over the creek and it was kind of run n gun until dark. Took 2 keeper size on crankbaits and then went to 10' culprit worm and fished boat houses. about 11, my buddy had a nice 4lb bass right up at the boat that somehow got off. Other than that, we didnt do much.

Re: Night at Herrington
I was at Herrington last night. I saw and boated a few small fish chasing shad fry. All my fish came via topwater I could not draw a strike on anything else, Cranking, wormin.
If anyone would like to offer some help I will gladly listen and share back.

Re: Night at Herrington
Junkie, My advice is to find another lake ;) I know there are alot of people who can catch bass on Herrington, but there are so many shad, its tough when they are eating shad in 80 ft of water in the middle of the lake. From what I have heard, its not taking much weight to win the tourneys at Herrington lately.
I have had the best luck going in the early morning and fishing Rat L Traps around shad schools and points; or even in the middle of the day, fishing with red/blue flake worms texas rigged off the bluff walls. I saw a guy down there last week who threw a buzzbait all day long and had a nice stringer of bass. Said he fished from 8am to 4pm and only threw a buzz. Who knows.

Re: Night at Herrington
I wish there was another lake as close as Herrington but...... I have been fishing it alot lately 4 to 5 times a week and knowing that there are people that go down there and catch good fish is what keeps driving me to go back to fiqure the lake out or at lease try to understand it better.
Over all my best goto bait is a crankbait on the lake during the day and Jig at night.
It looks like I will be heading down there shortly it is still cheaper to go to the lake then a night at the bar.

Re: Night at Herrington
Let see, 15-20 lbs each tuesday, friday, and saturday night to win a tournament is not much action... All I know is there was a 1/2 lb of craws in my livewell the last two tournaments.

Re: Night at Herrington
supersprint, I didnt hear anything like that weight, but I did hear 2nd hand. I heard 5-6 lbs.

Re: Night at Herrington
Fished a tourny there Saturday night and it took almost 16 lbs to win not bad for 5 fish. Lots of boats had limits so it must not be to bad on herrington at nite.

Re: Night at Herrington
That is a good sack of fish. That is why I keep going back to fiqure that place out. Seeing these sacks come in like that lets me know that there are fish to be caught.

Re: Night at Herrington
As much as I hate to say this SuperSprint is right. Some good sacks of fish coming out of the cement pond for several weeks now. Good luck.
