Boat control question

I have an old 16 foot Bass Tracker that I have been using to fish the smaller local lakes that have a ten horse limit. I had the transom cut down so I could put a 9.5 Evinrude on it. The problem I'm having is controlling the boat while I'm fishing. When it's windy, the back of the boat just goes all over the place because of the small motor. It probably looks like a 16 foot silver Zara Spook going down the bank. I need some sort of rudder to keep the back from drifting in the wind. Is there a product made for this or does anyone have any ideas?

you can use a drift sock or take a plastic grain bag and put some sand it and hang it over the back,probably just weight in the back in general would help.Your weight is lifting the back of the boat so you have no drag back there,storing all your stuff in the back will help too.

A buddy of mine had the same problem. He went and got a 3/16 " to 1/4" thick piece of Sheet Steal and cut one out and welded a bracket to it so he could attach it to his stern when he got out on the water. Worked great, just take a grinder and knock some of the rough spots off the edges, so you don't accidently rub against it and get cut....:)
