Rough River bass diseased?
We went to Rough Tuesday evening and fished from about 6pm til 10pm and I caught a small KY and a 3# largemouth on Junebug worms that looked like it should weigh 4-4.5# for its length. In the same spot 2 weeks ago or so I caught a 2# bass that looked like it should weigh 3# or so for its length. Is anyone else noticing this as there seems to be a problem? I do not catch many fish but this seems more than a coincidence.

I fish Rough pretty often and the fish I catch seem to weigh very well for there size. How long where the fish that you caught?
Re: Rough River bass diseased?
I fish rough alot, but I thought the sizes and overall quality of the fish I've caught this year have been the best in years. However, I have noticed that the bass have had a stronger smell at rough than at other lakes.
Re: Rough River bass diseased?
you may have caught a couple of late spawners that have not fattened back up yet.I did have one in our last tourney that was close to 4lb that went belly up 5 mins after putting her in the livewell and then she would not go down when we put her back even though she swam great,i caught her deep and if i knew how to de-flate her i think she would have been ok but another fella took her home. They seem to very healthy weight to length ratio i think, some limits of small keepers are hitting the 11lb range so that's pretty good i think.

The 2# one was probably 17 inches and the 3# one was about 20 inches.
Re: Rough River bass diseased?
the 2lber sounds just a little on the small side but a 20 incher should be closer to4-41/2. Keith may be right about the late spawner. All the fish I've caught Rough this year have been fat as hell.
