Ohio River fishing
Just wondering -
Has anyone been out on the Ohio river striper / white bass / catfishing below Newburgh or Markland ? With the heat everyone I know is not fishing much . I plan on fishing some spoons for stripes and whites / wipers below Newburgh over the Labor Day week-end . A front is suppose to push thru and cool things off by then { hopefully ! } . Tight lines

Re: Ohio River fishing
Good luck. I hope this heat wave breaks soon. I am getting tired of it being so hot all the time. I need to get outside and won't go there until it cools off. I can take the 90 deg F days but not these 100 deg F days.
Even at dusk it's still well into the upper 80's and that's not right.
I ordered some new Squirmin Squirt Tubes from Bass Pro Shops and hopefully they will get here about the same time this cold front gets here.

Adapt, overcome, improvise. Lead, follow, or get me a beer.

Re: Ohio River fishing
Fished from Markland dam to Veyvay two weeks ago. Not much going on. Fish live and cut gizzards and skippies. Gar were the only takers on those. Pulled three smaller 2-3 lb hybs in front of a parked barge on white jigs later in the day. We fished from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Talked to 1/2 doz. boats, and nobody was catching much. We need some moving water.
