Does anybody know if Otter Creek has been stocked with it's October delayed harvest trout yet?
I don't know for sure. Did you check with the KDFW web for information...they usually post those release dates.
I was at Natural Bridge yesterday and they were catching trout in what I assume was Red River. Fella said he caught six on minnows between 9-12 inches.
I checked KDFWR web site and all they had was a couple of stockings from September. I don't think they list the stocking on the delayed harvest streams in October.
I know that in the spring, they'll announce when they stock rainbows at Otter Creek, but not browns. At the KDFWR Trout Stream Classification page (http://fw.ky.gov/troutclass.asp?lid=885&NavPath=C101C140), it says that "Stocking dates are not announced for put-grow-take stockings." Otter Creek is p-g-t for browns, but p-t for rainbows. So you're probably right; with it being seasonal catch-and-release, they may not announce the fall stockings there.
On a side note, I emailed KDFWR about the fall stocking of the 5 Fishing in Neighborhoods (FINS) ponds, and got this response: "We are planning on stocking trout in the 5 FINS ponds. However, stockings have been delayed due to the unusually warm weather (up until Wednesday). We are waiting for water temperatures to drop below 70 degrees so the trout will stay alive once they have been stocked." So, they should be stocking them soon :)
KDFWR just updated the Trout Stocking Schedule web page yesterday. Since they're saying that the seasonal catch and release streams will be stocked in October, I'd assume they haven't done it yet. But they only have 12 days left to go, so it's gotta be soon!
