Curious on Tville
While fishing the low water conditions atTaylorsville recently, I`ve noticed several barrels with a opening at the top of one end and exposed due to the low water.
I`ve heard that they were put there for catfish nesting. Any info out there on these barrells? Thanks Tom.

Re: Curious on Tville
Thats what people put out for noodling catfish. Catfish get up in the barrels, hot water heaters with the top cut off or whatever people put out and then they reach in there and wrestle out the catfish. I go to a cookout 1 time a year where the guy does this, he has pics of catfish anywhere from 10-40 #'s.

I thought the COE put them out for nesting, I've seen them on just about every lake.

They might do so but I also know of guys that put them out to noodle catfish.

Re: Curious on Tville
It just so happens I was talking to one of my coworkers about noodling today, and he said that he and his father-in-law had placed a few barrels in Taylorsville just for that purpose. But apparently, they're only supposed to be there during "noodling season," (I didn't even know there was one) which ended 8/31. He tells me that if KDFWR finds them there during the off-season, they remove them.
