Scuba Diving
I would like to scuba dive in Laurel or Dale Hollow. I am certified and looking for somone that would like to go dive. I know this isn't the season but i happen to think about it so i'm bringing it up now. I have only dove in saltwater because i don't know anyone here that dives. I would also dive in KY lake or Herrington also. I have done a lot of free diving in herrington and visibility is amazing on a sunny day in clear water. I would love to get into spear fishing. I know people do it but they are hard to find for me

Re: Scuba Diving
I think winter is the best season! When diving below the termocline you need all the cold weather gear anyway, and in the winter you won't sweat to death while getting ready. After the lakes clear-up after turn over, the diving should be good. There are several scuba clubs that frequent Laurel. I've seen reports on a forum I used to keep up with. I'm sure you could find it. I can tell you from experience that the vis in fesh water, even very clear lakes, in nothing compared to the ocean, at least not down deap.

Re: Scuba Diving
I have dove Dale Hollow. Even in summer, the visibility is surprisingly good. Some spots of lots of geodes (rocks with crystals inside). But my favorite part of Dale Hollow was seeing all the fish (including some big bass). Cold weather diving is absolutely not for me, even with a two-piece 7mm wetsuit.
If you still need a dive-buddy this spring, let me know.
