Hunting And Fishing to end in New Jersey?
http://www.njoutdooralliance.org/standto/lose.html
The New Jersey Outdoor Alliance is trying to get out the word that there is an attempt by the current Governor and some State Legislators to change the face of the Game Department in New Jersey.
A Bill is before the State Legislature that would change the face of the Game Commission.. See article link above.
Instead of a commission with members from the industry, and one appointee the Legislature is attempting to change it to 7 Gubernatorial Appointments.
For those of you who are not aware of it, the current Governor has stopped the bear hunt in New Jersey and has shown a definite tendency towards stopping all hunting in the state. Should this governor appoint 7 members to the council who are Animal Rights activists there is a REAL possibility that Hunting and FISHING could end in Jersey.
The Humane S of America is behind this as are other AR groups.

First it was doves in Michigan, now bear hunting in New Jersey, when they come for our fishing rods will we have no one to support us, because they have been silenced?

I may be naive here but it sounds like a bunch of people crying wolf. How can these multi-billion dollar company's that make their money off of these sports not be involved in shutting this down? Wouldn't they lobby against this? If it's so bad where is B.A.S.S. and Mike Iaconelli plus the other sportsman/outdorrsman from that state? Sounds fishy...pun intented.

Good thing that I don't have any plans to fish in NJ! ;-)
Re: Hunting And Fishing to end in New Jersey?
The move to politicize the Game Board is a bad one, sure to hurt hunting and fishing interests in the state. But it's definitely an overstatement to say that fishing "may end in New Jersey." The state is 150 miles long, with 130 miles of Atlantic coastline, and a lot of hardcore fishermen. No way it's going to end. They're just going to put in place a bunch of ridiculous regulations. That IS bad, but not the end of the world.

New Jersey is a blue State.. they can and will pass laws to halt all hunting AND FISHING.. The Governor is a supporter of HSUS and PTA. Have you not seen FishingHurts? They even targeted this site for ads at one point. The idea that a Governors Order stopping all fishing both fresh and saltwater is not possible is naive. It can end.. believing that "Hard Core" fishermen will stop such a move if the Governor takes over the Commission is unrealistic. This governor ignores science and economics. These people do not care about economic effects. Hard Core Bear hunters lost in court and in the State Legislature.
