Carpet or Not?
My boat needs recarpeting, was thinking about stripping it down and applying the liner like Line-X puts in pick up beds. Anyone had and dealings with this? I figure it will be easier to clean and more durable, but I am unsure of how slippery it could get when wet. Ideas, pros, cons? Thanks.

Re: Carpet or Not?
I like carpet. Marine carpet grade carpet is really easy to clean. I have sprayed mine out at the car wash before - it is made to resist stains and to get drenched so don't hesitate to give it a good spraying. I think the Line-x stuff may be a little slick - but probably not too bad - it is made to be a little tacky when wet. I would be more concerned with how hot it would get on a summer day on the water.
What kind of boat is it?

Re: Carpet or Not?
Never thought of how hot it could get. Good point. It is a gambler boat.

Re: Carpet or Not?
I am considering doing my trailer in Rhino liner. But as far as boats, I have seen new carpet make a world of difference in look. I bet your gambler would look sharp with new carpet.

Re: Carpet or Not?
I would go with the carpet also. I had a truck that had linex in it and it would blister you when the sun hits it. The do however make colored linex that may help with the heat. Darker colors are going to be hotter.

Re: Carpet or Not?
Doug Meyer, he post as onemorecast on here is the best around. People on this board from all over have used Doug and he has a really good reputation. He has done work for me, but not carpet work and I have been pleased. He lives in Shepherdsville, just south of Louisville.

Re: Carpet or Not?
I recommend Doug, He is a heck of a nice guy. Does good work. He & Steve (I can't remember his screen name), fisheater, & myself went to Dale last spring on a mini vacation, I guess you could call it an extended guys weekend away from home. Had a blast, to say the least. Anyway, while we were there a guy came to the cabin & he worked on his trailer while we were there. Took work with him I guess you could say. I have seen one of the carpet jobs he has done in a boat & it looked good to me. Just my $.02 worth.
