Bait savers
I was watching a show and they was using a bait saver. Was wondering where you could get them and how are you able to hook a fish with them seems to me since its able to release you bait off of cover it would do the same with a bass or something. If it works, should would save some money.

Re: Bait savers
Make your own. It's easy... Buy some large snap swivels and a few 2 oz. catfish sinkers. When you get a bait hung up on the bottom, position your boat directly over top of the snag. Snap the swivel to the sinker and drop it right on top of the bait. Give it a few jerks with a tight line. Man, it will save you lots of $$$ and it works about 95% of the time. Works best with crankbaits and blade baits like Silver Buddy.

Re: Bait savers
I use the bell-sinker 3 oz on 50 # braid with snap plus a couple of small sections of small brass chain, and it works great. About half the time the hooks are caught in the chain.

Re: Bait savers
I read an article on Stacey King where he said he makes his own "plug-knockers," basically the same way as smljaw described, except he uses old spark plugs he gets for free.
