BASS magazine
I joined BASS again a few weeks ago, after about a 30 year lapse in my membership. I received my new issue (Feb) last week, pretty much beat to pieces by the US Postal Service. Of course, BASS doesn't wrap the magazine in a plastic slip cover like some other magazines I receive in the mail, so what should i expect?
Well, I called them up to express my disappointment. The young man I spoke to explained to me that when they ship them, they are all in great shape (duh). I explained to him that a magazine that is unprotected will get trashed before it reaches it's final destination. He indicated it wasn't the fault of BASS. I asked for another copy, since he clearly wasn't going to offer me one. He agreed, and I suggested that he let his bosses know that I was not just one cranky guy waiting on good fishing weather, but a spokesman for a bunch of other members that want copies that look good and that will hold up for future use.
Today I received my replacement copy, in a brown envelope, in perfect shape. Shipped separately, without an envelope or slip cover, I also received my "BASS Pro Guide 2008 Bonus Issue" with Skeet Reese on the cover. The cover has 5 torn places, several creases, and the worse tear extends from the cover to 4 pages into the magazine!
This is crap. If anybody else feels this way, feel free to send BASS an email: "]
I'm emailing BASS a copy of this letter.
Yeah, and I am cranky, and waiting for good fishing weather!

Re: BASS magazine
I have been a life member for nearly 20 years and have never had one magazine from BASS damaged. I would be willing to bet that it is getting tossed around in your local post office or by your carrier. I have subscriptions to other magazines and they don't come in protective sleeves and I have not had any problems with them either.
Hate to hear about your bad luck but I would talk to the post office.

Re: BASS magazine
I agree with Toadman--I get three weekly magazines and my wife gets a slew of shopping mags (LL Bean, Coldwater Creek, AVON, etc,) all sent without covers and most of them don't even have the little stickies that keep them closed AND I VERY SELDOM HAVE AN DAMAGE.
As Toadman said, I would complain to your local postmaster because it probably is happening locally.

Re: BASS magazine
Hmmm. Never a torn magazine in almost 20 years? Well, I'd like to go fishing w/ you because you're the luckiest man I know. :)
I get my mail delivered to a post office box. Can't blame it on the carrier. I'll go to the front counter and see what they have to say.
Anybody else as lucky as Toadman and Grumpy?

Re: BASS magazine
I don't remember having a problem with Bassmaster either for 10 years now.:)

Re: BASS magazine
I agree with everbody else. You need to take out your frustration on your carrier not BASS.

Re: BASS magazine
The only problem I have with BASS is they send me two mags every month. Both are in perfect shape, I just take one to work and throw it on the community table. :D

Re: BASS magazine
I get a (man's) magazine and sometimes the pages are stuck together. Not sure whats up with that.

Re: BASS magazine
I usually don't have trouble with magazines being torn up through the mail. They are shipped directly from the printing plants though, and Bassmaster themselves are not at fault.

Re: BASS magazine
NO problems at all with magazines here either. Talk to your local USPS.

I guess I am pretty lucky. When do you want to go fishing? And to answer your question, yes 20 years and never a problem and I have lived in 4 different cities in two different states in that time period. Now I have jinxed myself because my next one will no doubt be torn. LOL
