Bank fishing barren river lake?
I dont have a boat and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on a good place to bank fish for crappie on barren river lake. I have not been there very much and would appreciate the help. Also is there anywhere to find info about water release at the dam. Thanks
Re: Bank fishing barren river lake?
There is a lot of good access around any of the lake's bridges. I always see lots of cars off the side of the roads on the 31E bridges. I would say if you get to any bridge access on a creek arm you would do very well. The dam is hit and miss. You either hit a great day or you get skunked. Its a tossup. I would try the dam early in the morning and if you dont get anything in the first hour then go to the lake. If the spillway is unfishable, then go to the small slough on the field side of the river. If the spillway is fishable or just barely unfishable, then I would try the riprap lining the river all the way down to the campground.

condusivecranker is giveing you good advice. I have caught fish at the same locations. Years back we fished the water that backs up into the wooded area behind the tail waters and I caught more crappie than I had ever caught at one time.
lots of luck,
