Man, with all the rain we been having in the area, I'd say all the lakes, ponds, and streams are way up. You might have your best luck fishing in a small pond or small acreage lake for some Crappie or Dinner size Bass around 12" or so.... Maybe even get into some catfish while your at it.... Nuttin like fresh channel cat to eat.....:)
I assume that you live around Newport. If you look on the trout stocking schedule you will see they are stocking trout in Prisoners lake in devou Park the 10th of April. They would be a sure catch.Berley power bait, wax worms, red worms, corn or minnows would get you yourlimit 8 . Also if you are fishing with minnows you have a good chance of catchings some crappie. If you want to catch some channel cats A.J.Jolleys Lake is the place to go. Fish with chicken liver on the bottom for best results. This lake also has crappie of good size you could catch if you hit it right.
Good luck
Williamstown lake is up and very muddy. Had a friend fish it last Friday, 1-5lb channel cat and a 8lb snagged carp while bass fishing. AJ Jolly is up and looks like dirt.
