Saved by Dave
We came down to Barkley Wednesday to get in a few days of camping and hoping to find some fish. Instead we ended up with a rusted out break line and six inches of rain. All was not lost. The only person I knew to call down there was Dave Stewart. Dave gave me the the number of Kings Body Shop in Benton and Mr King treated better than I expected. Even fixed me up with a rental car. Now if Dave could have only done something about the 6" of rain we had while staying in a tent life would have been perfect. Didnt catch many fish those days , but had a good time anyway thanks largely to Dave.

Re: Saved by Dave
Glad I could be of assistance. Mr King has worked on my truck and my wife's car many times over the years and the work has always been top notch and at a more than reasonable price. Not only does Mr King run a reliable auto repair service but he is also just one fine individual. Sorry to hear you did not catch a lot of fish while you were here...the rapid rise in the lake after the heavy rains on Thurs and Friday did scatter the fish somewhat. I know you were disappointed when I told you about the bite we had on Thursday in all that rain while you were dealing with the broken brake line...it was the best bite day this year by far and one of the best I have ever experienced here...sorry you missed it, maybe next time lady luck will be on your side.

Re: Saved by Dave
Just another example of Dave going out of his way to help someone. I have experienced the generosity first hand and have certainly appreciated it. By the way Dave that was me in the Stratos when you came through the 68 bridge in Jonathan Creek Sunday morning. That fog was a killer. We had allready idled out close to the main lake and was on our way back.

Re: Saved by Dave
I thought that was you but I was not sure....we followed the shoreline about halfway out and then it cleared...it was probably just clearing behind you coming in.

Man, just when I thought my Hero was just that a HERO, he turns out to be Human after all. Dave could not do anything about the 6" of rain has just dropped him from the HERO plateau to just plain "OLD" Human. To think for the past 4 years of knowing Dave it took him all this time to drop a few rungs on the ladder. See ya on the water next week Dave and if you are walking on it, then I will move you back to the top of the ladder and restore you to the HERO catagory once again.

It actually did get worse the closer we got to the bridge. Fished the yard gnome pattern all weekend...lol Actually caught a fish off of a garden hose reel. That was a first.

Love me some cold weather. May just bring my FNF rod and tackle for the trip. I figure a nice 1/16oz jig suspended below the bobber dangling in all that flooded buck brush would do just nicely. I don't know about the 6lb leader when the big girl does eat but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. I could really make it a challenge and use a 4lb leader but why make it any harder than it already is. I am having a tough time deciding between the FNF tackle and my flipping stick with 50lb braid??????? Tough choice
