Dix River...bank fishing?
I'm up in Lexington and I'm thinking about heading down to the Dix, but don't have a boat/canoe/etc. to put in with right now. Is there any bank fishing down there? Most of what I've seen around indicates most everyone fishes from a boat there. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.
Re: Dix River...bank fishing?
The only way to fish Dix River is from a boat. There is no access to Dix River other than by boat. The boat ramp is in the river bottom as you go to Lock 7 at High Bridge. Just take KY 29 south through Wilmore until it ends at High Bridge, then make a right and head down the hill. The boat ramp is on the left just as you go through the gate. I have seen a few small aluminum boats for sale this spring, some with motors and some without. A person may find a nice fishing boat for a few hundred dollars if you look around.
Re: Dix River...bank fishing?
My friend and I searched for other ways to go about it. We did see a few people putting in where the rivers meet. But found it was private land - I believe owned by the utility company. I enjoy the trip up the river in a canoe - and would reccomend it to anyone. MSD's directions are as close as anything I have found.

Thanks guys...that is kind of what I figured, but just wanted to check. I've been looking into canoes, but until then, the bank is what I'll have to make do with
