Cumberland info day or night?
Ok guys Iam heading to Cumberland next Thursday(May 1st) for 4 days. I hear the best striper/walleye bite is night time throwing slivers & red fins but I also hear that you want to fish live bait behind planner boards during the day, if you were me which way would you go? or should I do like the boys on the Deadliest Catch and fish both for 96 hours around the clock? *Any problems catching bait under lights now?
Re: Cumberland info day or night?
IF The SHOE fits wear it...I'll get bait for ya...LOL!
Re: Cumberland info day or night?
Bait should be very easy next week. It got a little slow during the full moon, but that's about over. Fish have started moving from the creeks to the main lake, and are a little scattered right now. I talked to a couple of guys a few days ago that were coming in just before daylight as I was leaving, and they had done pretty well. Daytime bite is also pretty good, so it's really up to you and how you want to fish. I like the 96 hour "iron man" idea. Good luck.
Re: Cumberland info day or night?
I had a 22 hour night/day on the Big C a few years back and I don't think I could have made it that next 74 hours. I put in at 8pm on Saturday and took out at 6pm on Sunday. It was in October and I caught some good Smallies and Stripers on topwater Saturday night then caught several KY's and Smallies using shiners on the bluff walls during the day plus some good Stripers caught in the jumps as well. I was one tired puppy that drive back to Frankfort. Forgot to take any food with me on the boat and stopped at Taco Bell on the way back to eat plus slept in the truck for a half hour before driving back. It was well worth it for many fish were caught.
