Elkhorn
Just got back from Elkhorn Creek. Paddled the upper whitewater section. Caught several fish including a 3 1/2 pd. largemouth. As soon as I get the pictures updated I'll prove that :-P. Anyways, we also caught two sauger/walleye (I can't tell the difference). I had absolutely no clue that a sauger/walleye population existed in the Elkhorn, I know they are in the KY River, but I cannot believe they migrated all the way up to the Forks region. Anyone know anything about that population in the Elkhorn? They fought very hard and I would love to catch a bunch more :)

Re: Elkhorn
Wow...
A walleye or sauger up there is awesome.
Nice job.

Re: Elkhorn
Thats the first I have heard, But it doesn't really suprise me, too much. When that water gets up like it was, those fish in the river can go up those creeks a good ways. Thats pretty awesome though. I hope you will share those pictures with us too!

Re: Elkhorn
Yep, with the water up like it was...I guess they just battled upstream against the current. Bet they were tired by the time they got up there. Talk about strength and stamina...

Re: Elkhorn
We fished Floyds fork, and caught 5-6 sauger. They must have traveled from the Ohio River 15 miles away?

Re: Elkhorn
I have caught them in Otter Creek down at the blue hole section on more than one occasion. They seem to like black curly tail grubs almost as much as smallmouth.

Re: Elkhorn
Sauger are a lot smaller than Walleye. You can also tell the difference because the walleye will have a small white patch on the bottom half of their tail. I've seen some come from the Elkhorn as well as 1 rainbow trout that I caught years ago.
