Highest % of use tax???

Have you ever really looked at your phone bill? I think this was posted before, but here's a rundown on my land line bill.

Basic flat rate service $11.51 that's my basic bill, HOWEVER HERE WE GO
Federal Access charge 5.53
9-1-1 Emerg System
Billing for Floyd County .68
Fed Universal Service Fee .56 Isn't that included in Fed Access System?
IN Universal Service
surcharge .06
Telecommunications
Relay Service .03

Federal tax at 3% .53

State Tax at 6% $1.59

Total $19.96 of which $8.45 is some sort of tax or "service" charge.

That's about 42% tax on your phone bill multiplied by x phone's in the U.S.

I agree there's too much tax rates pinned on having a phone in your house. If I could afford not to have a land line phone in my house I'd have it turned off. But with having two young teenagers it's a must have deal. It'd cost me way more to have unlimited cell phones minutes vs. the land line cost. The wife and I wouldn't even have the land line if it weren't for the boys of course..... Calling their buddies and in about another year, it'll be them calling girls.....Oh no say it ain't so, seems like it was only yesterday that they were playing in the sand box.....lol

Hey Don it gets worse, lol. Mine will be 18 June 1st and she is a guinness and I'm stupid, lol. She is a smart girl though and I love her, I use to be able to get her out in the woods and on the water with me, not anymore. Maybe someday she'll want to go fishing with ole Dad again I hope.

Yep text messaging is here to stay. We have a problem with it even at work 4COL! AAMOF, I can't even get on this website to goof off without people interrupting me about goofing off with text messaging!! SICL G2G
