Rough River
I am heading to Rough with my 6 and 8 year old this weekend. We will probably start with bass and then move to anything that will bite if they get bored. Any advice on what is working there? It seems most of the posts I have read are not very encouraging for Rough so far this year.

Re: Rough River
From what I have heard is that a KDFW Officer told a buddy of mine that they lost all the spawns (Bass,Crappie,Bluegill) with the exception of maybe the catfish spawn due to the water conditions. You may get lucky and catch the hybrids in the jumps and throw some type of dog-walking lure and then go search for the gills to keep the young'uns interested. As slow as the LM bite is right now they would probably lose interest quick. JMO

Re: Rough River
we were there sat and sun and we caught several bass and one was definently a male and looked as if he was gaurding a nest. his tail was raw and he had some cuts and scars around his mouth. the bite for the lm only lasted until around ten in the morning. after that we fished for bluegills with wax worms and caught aruond twenty or so. we left around 1:30 and the gills were still biteing. so if the bass wont cooperate the gills should keep the young ones busy.
